Most of the artists in the gallery stable will be offering recent oil paintings and drawings
that cover a wide gamut of subject matter including portraits, figures, still lifes and florals, interiors, sculpture as well as landscapes and seascapes. Many
important artists are represented by the gallery and will have new works on view. Steven Levin, Dean Larson, Tony Curanaj, Gregory Gandy, Adam Forfang, Jacob Collins,
Michael Grimaldi, Sarah Lamb, Jacob Pfeiffer, Joseph McGurl, Travis Schlaht, Anthony Waichulis, Will Wilson and Zack Zdrale will be joined by newcomers to fill the 10,000
square foot gallery with small gems. John Pence notes, "In the world of art, being large is not necessarily the judge of value or importance. Fantin-Latour, Paul Cadmus, Paul Klee,
Minerva Chapman, Seldon Gile, Mary Cassatt, and the BonheurÕs were all artists whose smaller works are cherished today as being amongst the best of their oeuvres."
Often times the complex compositions of smaller works can be far more deft and alluring than giant sized canvases that seem meant to fill up a large wall space, Well known collectors have always been drawn to small works that can be viewed close up and admired for the skills of miniaturization, linear perspective, nuanced color and contrasting light. There is no question that American realism is making a resurgence and that many for the finest talents in this country are being drawn to the realist field. In troubled times, like the time at hand, it is often wise for collectors to come down to earth and reconnect with their passions of acquiring art by seeking out small treasures. One can find a myriad of subjects to satisfy a myriad of tastes and reward artistic talent. Collectors' have an intellectual connection with the artists who create works they acquire. |
